My brother always told me a girl and guy can never be just friends if they are single (and straight) which I completely disagree with especially since my best friend is a guy. But the real question is can they be friends without onsidering the possibility of being more? Now this is something that I don't think will work. This consideration period may be as quick as when you met the person for the first time,

you knew the relationship was going to stop at a friendship. Or it could be a long contemplation when u test the waters a little bit and see if u can cross that line but realize u can't. Either way, the key to all of this is making sure both parties involved are on the same level. Otherwise the line may be clear in one persons mind but blurred in the others and eventually someone gets hurt without the intention being there. So make sure you're open with each other and enjoy because some of my best friendships are with guys that I would take a bullet for but could never date..

Dear Alanna

I agree completely. With you that is, not your brother. But I thought you made a very insightful distinction between not wanting to date your friends and never considering it for an instant.
I'd like to say I've never thought once about dating one of my guy friends, but it must have crossed my mind at least once, if only so I could totally rule it out!
Besides, there must be something in this other person that you find appealing in order to desire their company and their friendship.

Yuup I couldn't agree more! There is something that attracts you to your friends and a connection that you make. Thanks for making a comment! If you have any questions or something you want me to talk about, just let me know!

i think when a man and a woman are friends it is absolutley natural for them to start feeling for each other the only problem is they think to much.have you ever talked to a married couple and they just understand everything they say they even finish each others sentences, it is an amazing experience if people hold on to that. nowadays single people cant stand the fact that they are single. it drives me crazy. i just met a woman who is 65 and she just met the love of her life who is abou to take take her to paris to marry her, and yet there are people out there that are merely 21 and they are seriouslybelieveing they will never find anyone that could make them happy. whoever is reading this has to realise that not man can take away your soul unless you give it to them and unless they are your husband what right do they have to your soul, when men are ready for marriage they want the virgin clean girl, not the "why go for the cow when you can get the milk for free gir" the men have had their fun when they settle down do you really think they will want to marry a brittany spears? yeah so she was gorgeous but now look at her she is not exactly virgin mary anymore. guys want a girl who is genuine don't ever change for a guy, cos if you change for a guy your not being true to yourself.the no 1 rule is if you have to change for a guy he doesn't love you he is insulting you to become something your not just so he could love ypu is revolting. women have something that men want so why do we have to do the crawling. be strong girls if he loves you he would do everything to get you, none of this shy business, even if he is going throuigh a divorce he would be damn sure to have you if he is that into you, read the book it saved my life from a world of mysery.

Thanks for the comments, you put alot of good advice in there! Having a relationship is nice, but it isn't everything. And giving up yourself and all the things that make you unique to form a person that you think your crush will fall for won't last long. If a person does not come along that likes you for who you are, then it is not your time to be with someone yet. It is that simple.

So yea, basically I agree with you. Thank you for your comment! If you ever have any questions, feel free to post them and I will respond as soon as I can!
